Preparatory exercises increase the sense of balance, improve reflexes, and develop flexibility, and coordination. They also introduce creative movement, rhythm, ballet basics, and class etiquette. NOTE: Miss Dannielle maintains, as do all professional ballet schools, that classical ballet technique is not for the child under 6 years of age. Before this age the physical and mental rigors of ballet are usually too demanding. The Pre-Dance class for ages 3-6 is designed to introduce young children to the joys of movement by exploring and expanding their movement range in an uplifting and joyful atmosphere. It is an enjoyable program that develops the child's self-esteem. Even the shy child becomes more confident and learns to interact with others. Building coordination, strength, flexibility, and balance in combination with musical exercises are some of the primary objectives of the class. This class is recommended as a precursor to studying formal technique in ballet, modern dance, or tap. Black or pink leotard, tights, and ballet shoes are suggested. Shoes will be removed for modern dance portion.

Black or pink leotard, tights, and ballet shoes are suggested. Shoes will be removed for modern dance portion.
