Come and explore the quaint New Hampshire town of Grover’s Corner, where
it can appear that little happens, but every moment is filled with greatness in Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize winning American classic. Our Town is introduced and narrated by the Stage Manager, who welcomes the audience to the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, early on a May morning in 1901. Grover’s Corners is place where we find value “for the smallest events in our daily life.” It’s a play where everything looks idyllic on the outside, but inside Wilder reveals “the impieties and hypocrisies of American life. “

Lettice begins to embellish its historical past and her lecture gains theatricality and romance as it strays from the facts. Lotte Schon, an inspector from the Preservation Trust, is not impressed or entertained by these history lessons. She fires Lettice, but gradually becomes fascinated by her unusual past, her romantic world view and her refusal to accept the mediocre. The two women forge an alliance to awaken their fellow citizens to the dreariness of modern life.
